Here to help you with your rural planning - The Rural Planning Practice

Line break 3

As our name suggests we are focused on rural planning!

With offices in Kent and Gloucestershire we are well placed to cover much of England and Wales with a large amount of our work being in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Parks.

Rural planning glamping vanThe knowledgeable and enthusiastic team includes a variety of backgrounds, we have rural land managers, planners with local authority experience, even archaeologists. Some of us have an addiction to horses which is useful for the many types of commercial equestrian projects we undertake. We also enjoy the challenge of a listed building or two.

We like developing well designed small scale residential schemes. We are also well versed in dwellings to support rural enterprises. Affordable property to rent and housing for older people in rural areas is interesting as well.

Bespoke domestic projects are an important part of what we do; enabling clients to achieve their wishes is very satisfying and we will fight hard to make it happen.

Landownership brings opportunities and the Government’s push for housebuilding means site promotion is essential for areas of growth. This can be a fairly long drawn out process, but the initial work has to be done to get the ball rolling.

We say we work for the good, the bad, the ugly and the unauthorised. We are regularly involved in enforcement issues, often working collaboratively with the planning authority to find solutions to sites that have got out of hand.

The countryside is not always ‘intrinsically beautiful’, as suggested by national planning policy and we deal with a fair number of messy sites that are often a necessary part rural life.

When all else fails, we have a good record of successful appeals both against enforcement notices and planning decisions. Appeals are a last resort, and we will always try to think outside the box to see if another solution is possible.

Diversification these days is not just the usual suspects we have known and loved for years, but now includes renewable energy, habitat creation, vertical farming, products from trees including biochar to name but a few. We happily embrace this as part of our service.

We have an established network of trusted specialists we work with including landscape architects, designers, highwaymen, ecologists, engineers and so on. These specialists are often an essential part of a successful application in rural areas. We coordinate what is needed so you do not have to and manage the planning application from start to finish.

We would be delighted to hear from you to discuss your project.
